The English Neighborhood is the creation of the 2007 – 2008 Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) in Yilan County, Taiwan. The ETAs found great value in sharing activities, games, stories, songs, and other classroom lessons with one another. Compiling these ideas into a centralized, accessible English-teaching resource for local English teachers became the cornerstone project of their tenure. Their original contributions to the English Neighborhood, and those of past Fulbrighters, established a foundation for what the ETAs envision to be a dynamic and interactive database of English teaching ideas and materials.
The Fulbright program places American native English speakers in English classrooms across the world for a year of teaching and cultural exchange. The 2007 – 2008 ETAs in Taiwan are Dale Albanese, Laura Burr, Josue Confresi, Mitcho Erlewine, Julie Goshe, Katie Hodges, Michelle Louie, Katie Pabarue, Jeannie Rose, Jennifer Wei, Casey Welch, and Megan Wiegand. The ETAs represent an array of cultural and educational backgrounds and hail from across the Untied States. For more information on the Fulbright program in Taiwan,
